The goal is to provide trainees and prospective trainees with guidance, support, and access to existing resources \u2013 presented clearly, comprehensively, and easily.<\/p>\n

Later this year, the first service will launch, acting as a guide to existing advisory, support, and networking opportunities. When will we finally get started?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In May 2026 (the exact opening date is not yet 100% certain), the new building above the Burtscheid Bridge at Aachen Central Station will be completed and ready for occupancy.<\/p>\n

The nearly 200 apartments will be available for students and trainees. The apartments are 24 square meters in size and will be offered at a total rent of \u20ac375 per room.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n

Who are we actually?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are the “Azubiwerk Aachen” alliance, a collaboration of various organizations, unions, and chambers of commerce, such as the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) Aachen-Stadt district association, the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) North Rhine-Westphalia South-West region, the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Aachen Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), and the Aachen Tenants’ Association. Together with the City of Aachen, we have been working for the past few years to provide affordable housing for apprentices in Aachen.<\/p>\n

In addition to affordable housing, Azubiwerk Aachen aims to offer you further support during your apprenticeship to help you successfully complete your vocational training.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n

Guiding function: Orientation instead of overwhelm<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Numerous counseling and support services for trainees already exist in Aachen. However, many young people find it difficult to keep track of all the options and find the right service.<\/p>\n

This is where the Azubiwerk (Trainee Centre) comes in. It acts as a guide, helping trainees to:<\/p>\n

  1. find suitable counseling centers,<\/li>\n
  2. classify existing services,<\/li>\n
  3. and refer them to the appropriate resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Housing as a central<\/strong> component of the project<\/h2>\n

    With Azubiwerk Aachen, we want to support young people with apprenticeship contracts in applying for affordable housing in Aachen. Next year, Aachen’s first apprenticeship residence will open above the Burtscheid Bridge near Aachen Central Station.<\/p>\n

    We are already accepting applications for our apartments in a prime downtown location at a fair price. The apartments are owned and rented by the municipal housing company gewoge AG.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n
