The goal is to provide trainees and prospective trainees with guidance, support, and access to existing resources – presented clearly, comprehensively, and easily.
Later this year, the first service will launch, acting as a guide to existing advisory, support, and networking opportunities. These resources are not intended to be replaced, but rather to be complemented, made more visible, and, where possible, interconnected.
In May 2026 (the exact opening date is not yet 100% certain), the new building above the Burtscheid Bridge at Aachen Central Station will be completed and ready for occupancy.
The nearly 200 apartments will be available for students and trainees. The apartments are 24 square meters in size and will be offered at a total rent of €375 per room.
We are the “Azubiwerk Aachen” alliance, a collaboration of various organizations, unions, and chambers of commerce, such as the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) Aachen-Stadt district association, the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) North Rhine-Westphalia South-West region, the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Aachen Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), and the Aachen Tenants’ Association. Together with the City of Aachen, we have been working for the past few years to provide affordable housing for apprentices in Aachen.
In addition to affordable housing, Azubiwerk Aachen aims to offer you further support during your apprenticeship to help you successfully complete your vocational training.

This is where the Azubiwerk (Trainee Centre) comes in. It acts as a guide, helping trainees to:

With Azubiwerk Aachen, we want to support young people with apprenticeship contracts in applying for affordable housing in Aachen. Next year, Aachen’s first apprenticeship residence will open above the Burtscheid Bridge near Aachen Central Station.
We are already accepting applications for our apartments in a prime downtown location at a fair price. The apartments are owned and rented by the municipal housing company gewoge AG.
